Seeking a BC/BE Pathologist
to serve as Medical Director
and join an established pathology practice in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
Position Highlights:
- Medical Director opportunity within an established pathology practice
- Approximately 5,000 surgical pathology specimens annually
- Approximately 1,000 non-GYN cytology specimens and 2,800 GYN Pap smears
- Work alongside one full-time Pathologist, with clinical and call duties split equally
- Read for a small critical access hospital
- Two full-time cytotechnologists pre-screen all cytology specimens and independently sign out the majority of Pap smears
- Three full-time histotechnologists gross most biopsy cases and select small specimens
- Peripheral blood smear evaluation as needed
- Serum and urine protein electrophoresis and immunofixation ( SPEP/SPIF) interpretation twice weekly
- Transfusion reaction evaluation as needed
- FISH panel interpretation for bone marrow, peripheral blood, and solid tumors
- Technical component of FISH testing performed by a reference laboratory
