Independent academic medical center is seeking a full-time Board-Certified General Surgeon who is enthusiastic about academic medicine and surgical education, to join their team in south suburban Chicago.

  • The ideal candidate has broad-based clinical expertise in general surgery, a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Candidates must be Board-Certified in General Surgery and possess or be eligible for an Illinois medical license
  • Minimum of 3–5 years post-residency clinical experience – Required
  • Prior experience in teaching or educational administration is required
  • The General Surgeon will join a clinical learning environment committed to advancing healthcare quality and clinical excellence
  • The General Surgeon is a core faculty member who is actively involved in our ACGME-accredited Surgery residency program, engaging in clinical and didactic teaching, supervising residents and medical students, and participating in curriculum development, quality improvement, and scholarly activity
  • Successful candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, and genuine interest in mentoring the next generation of physicians
  • Epic EMR

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive surgical care, including elective and emergency procedures
  • Demonstrate commitment to the delivery of safe, equitable, high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care
  • Participate as a core faculty member in the ACGME-accredited Surgery residency program, devoting substantial effort to the teaching and supervision of residents
  • Support and contribute to processes for curriculum development, and resident and program evaluation
  • Engage in scholarly activity
  • Foster a culture of mentorship, professionalism, and continuous improvement


Compensation/Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation, including income guarantee, with bonus incentives
  • Salary range: $407,252 - $562,704
  • Generous start-up and retention bonuses; relocation allowance
