An independent, community-focused hospital in Southeastern North Carolina is seeking an experienced BC/BE Family Medicine physician (MD or DO) to join its Family Medicine Residency Program as Associate Program Director. This leadership opportunity blends academic medicine, resident mentorship, and clinical practice within a supportive environment that values physician autonomy, collaboration, and innovation.
- Approximately 80% teaching/preceptorship
- Approximately 20% outpatient continuity clinic (1 day per week)
- One week per month supervising Family Medicine inpatient service
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Resident mentorship and academic advising
- Curriculum oversight and program development
- Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation standards
- Participate in resident recruitment, interviewing, and selection
- Maintain clinical practice aligned with residency program requirements
- Collaborate closely with Program Director and hospital leadership
- Promote resident wellness, professionalism, and compassionate patient care
Clinical Support:

- OB/GYN
- Orthopedics

- Urology
Qualifications:
- BC/BE in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOBFP)
- Core faculty experience required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Comfortable with obstetrics, joint injections, and dermatologic procedures
- Familiarity with ACGME accreditation standards
- Demonstrated academic involvement through teaching, curriculum development, or research
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities
- Passion for community-based medicine and caring for rural or underserved populations
