Independent, physician-friendly community hospital and Level IV Trauma Center, is seeking a BC/BE Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine physician
to join its employed emergency medicine team and serve as Medical Director.
This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on emergency medicine with clinical leadership while succeeding a highly respected Medical Director who will remain on staff to provide mentorship during the transition.
Position Highlights
- Hospital-employed Emergency Medicine & Medical Director role
- Not a heavily administrative role - most admin work can be done during normal shift
- Leadership of an established team of five emergency physicians, including board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians
- Approximately 11,000 annual ED visits
- 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling starting at 6 am and 6 pm
- Minimum commitment of 145 shifts annually
- Collaborative, physician-led culture with direct access to executive leadership
- Opportunity to shape departmental quality initiatives, trauma readiness, physician recruitment, and operational improvements

Medical Director Responsibilities
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Oversee ED policies, protocols, and clinical standards
- Participate in peer review and physician mentoring
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and EMS
- Support physician recruitment, scheduling, and departmental growth
- Monitor operational and quality metrics while ensuring regulatory compliance
Compensation & Benefits
- W2 role, willing to entertain 1099 option
- $241/hour
- $20,000 annual Medical Director stipend
- $75,000 3 year retention bonus -$25K at end of each year, but first year could be a sign-on
- $10,000 relocation assistance
- $7,500 annual CME allowance
- Paid North Dakota license, DEA, and professional membership
