An established emergency medicine team in Dothan, Alabama is seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner
to provide advanced care for patients presenting with urgent and emergent illnesses and injuries.
Practice Highlights:
- Full-time night shift, 8:00 PM–8:00 AM
- Rapidly assess and manage urgent and emergent conditions
- Care for patients ranging from minor conditions to life-threatening emergencies
- Evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics through geriatrics
- Order and interpret labs, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
- Perform procedures including suturing, I&D, splinting, and conscious sedation, as credentialed
- Provide basic airway support within scope and credentialing
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute illnesses, trauma, and injuries
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, specialists, and the multidisciplinary team
- Determine appropriate patient disposition, including admission, transfer, or discharge
- Manage medications and initiate appropriate therapies within established protocols
- Provide patient education and coordinate follow-up care and referrals
- Participate in staff orientation and professional development
- Practice in a team-oriented environment focused on safe, high-quality patient care
Qualifications:
- Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification
- Current or eligible for Alabama NP licensure
- Current BCLS and ACLS certifications
- 1+ years of NP experience in a high-acuity emergency department preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to rapidly assess complex patients
- Proficiency with emergency department procedures preferred
- Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively in high-pressure situations
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety
- Proficiency with electronic medical records
